I don't know why it's called moon sand, and I don't know if it feels like sand from the moon because I've never been to the moon! Not yet anyway. Here's what you need for your next sand castle adventure. By the way, it's as fun to make together as it is to play with.

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups of flour

  • 1/2 cup coconut oil

  • Optional - a few drops of food coloring

  1. In a nice big bowl, add all the ingredients. Be careful not to over do the food coloring so you don't stain any surfaces!

  2. Use a wooden spoon to stir all the ingredients together until you have a texture that feels like the perfect sandcastle sand.

  3. When it's all mixed up, you can empty it into your sand-play surface.

  4. Store in a ziploc bag.

This works with baby oil too, but if you have young ones who might try to taste their sand, coconut oil, coconut oil might be less troublesome.

Have fun!
